Job Description



Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, working with Operations to ensure product quality, analyzing and solving quality problems, preparing procedures, and training team members.  Provide direction and guidance to all laboratory activities as well as critical monitoring of master sanitation and CIP activities.  Performs audits, analyzes quality costs and other quality data, and applies quality tools and fundamental statistical methods for process control to ensure production of products and processes are consistent with established standards.  Work with all internal and external customers to guarantee quality excellence.  Promotes and supports the Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. (Keurig) continuous improvement efforts and initiatives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position will provide leadership and direction to Quality Technicians.

 

What you will do:

  • Provide direction and guidance to all quality team members while supporting a high performance work group
  • Represents the site with the Network Quality functions
  • Works with Grinding, Maintenance and Production to produce consistent high quality coffee while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Define and implement quality and food safety initiatives to link product specifications, manufacturing standards and process improvement with customer expectations
  • Provide training to ensure effectiveness of plant food safety and quality functions
  • Oversee non-compliance concerns by developing and implementing corrective actions
  • Assist with investigation of internal and external complaints
  • Assure product and process quality to include all record keeping and documentation
  • Ensure plant is “inspection ready” in compliance with CFR Title 21 in preparation for third party / government audits
  • Manages the collection, analysis and reporting of performance and product conformance quality data to inform production team members on status and priorities of quality issues
  • Trains and directs quality teams and plant personnel in quality processes to ensure the proper conformance to Keurig quality testing procedures, quality policies, and compliance with Keurig and customer specifications
  • Perform audits and quality tests with operations and QC staff to address quality related issues
  • Monitor and guide all SSOP’s and CIP’s to maintain the highest levels of plant cleanliness
  • Regular reporting of measures that communicate process outputs relative to Keurig requirements/specifications
  • Audit production processes to record, document, and evaluate consistency to customer and Keurig specifications and validation of corrective actions over time
  • Ensure that all quality requirements for sampling, testing, and reporting are performed by appropriate staff
  • Develop, in partnership with the Multi-Site Quality, appropriate testing, procedures, and programs to promote product and process quality
  • Develop and maintain quality information records and reports (customer complaints, internal issues, etc) to adequately communicate production capabilities and quality issue priorities and status, with regular reporting and participation in the respective area meetings
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all Keurig quality test procedures, customer specifications, Keurig documents, and other quality information/documentation as required
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and resolve quality issues – utilizing quality tools (cause and effect, process mapping, statistical methods, etc.) to implement effective corrective actions
  • Monitor the QC team performance to ensure that labeling, product information, and product packaging satisfies Keurig, regulatory, and customer specifications
  • Facilitates dispositions/resolutions to daily production quality issues as needed
  • Test finished goods according to a regular/randomized schedule to aid quality assurance efforts
  • Use and maintain quality databases (design, create, import, export, query, report, analyze)
  • Responsibility to report food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance to plant or division personnel with authority to initiate action
  • Supports the site SQF Practitioner in SQF Compliance and auditing functions.
  • Resolves any quality issues with third part auditors with direct communication
  • Ensures all quality reports are collected regularly and reported monthly to Corporate Quality and site teams
  • Follows all policies, ergonomic standards, and safety requirements directed by Keurig
  • Performs other duties as requested by management
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's Principles, policies and applicable laws.
  • Accountable for communication, interviewing and hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, leveraging team and individual strengths, managing performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and solving problems to ensure high performance results.


Requirements

What you must have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with Quality Systems development and implementation, preferably in a supervisory role within a food/beverage manufacturing environment
  • Certification in HACCP, SQF, and Six Sigma preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and multiple projects altogether and simultaneously
  • Professional training and/or auditing experience within food/beverage manufacturing preferred
  • Demonstrable awareness of the Body of Knowledge associated with Quality Assurance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to analyze data for quick decisions
  • Accomplished computer skills with strong word processing, spreadsheet, and database (Access & PS) competencies
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and be organized
  • Strong interpersonal and influence skills preferred
  • A strong aptitude for hands-on learning
  • Ability to effectively document, report on, and guide resolution of quality issues cross functionally
  • Regular and punctual attendance required
  • Must follow all Keurig policies, programs and procedures (Safety, HACCP, HR, etc)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including various shifts as needed
  • Ability to develop protocols, training materials, and reports
  • Self starter; take charge, positive and proactive attitude
