Trade Accounting Analyst

This role is a unique opportunity for an accounting specialist who will interact with stakeholders from several areas within Dr Pepper Snapple Group such as Brand Marketing, Brand Finance, Travel and Events Services, Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and various Sales teams as well as third-party suppliers. The primary responsibilities of this role include all accounting related to our manufacturer’s coupons, the allocation of travel and event expenses and POS expenses to the designated trade or marketing budgets according to DPS’ trade and marketing policies, ensuring the reconciliation of those expenses in SAP and the appropriate subledger. This role will also be responsible for providing coverage for the coupon and audit teams during peak busy seasons.
Responsibilities:
Accounting:
- Prepare journal entries for establishing coupon funding in general ledger (SAP) for all coupon requests
- Prepare journal entries and/or subledger entries for corporate credit card expenses, POS expenses and corporate event expenses
- Prepare all monthly documentation to aid in the reconciliation of the Marketing Funds and Siebel systems with the general ledger (SAP), researching and resolving out-of-balance items as necessary
- Process quarterly coupon funding adjustments, including evaluating future funding needs and preparing resulting journal entries
- Partner with various departments research and resolve reconciling items
- Prepare reconciliation or ad hoc reports as necessary
Couponing:
- Process reimbursements to clearing house suppliers for paid redemption, ensuring reimbursements are within established policy and procedure guidelines as well as contract terms
- Partner with Brand and Sales teams to communicate and resolve coupon request issues in a timely and professional manner
- Provide coupon redemption forecast or other support to requesters as needed
- Coordinate with various DPS departments and third-party print suppliers to provide guidance for offer wording and design based upon industry standards and approved policies
- Research retailer inquiries regarding payment denials of redemption submissions
- Establish coupon offers within applicable database in accordance with industry best practices, DPSG policies, and coupon clearing house guidelines
- Monitor coupon portal to ensure requests are processed timely in order to meet department’s published SLA
Audit
- Ensure reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with GAAP and DPS’ trade and marketing policy
Requirements:
- Accounting, Finance, or Business-related degree preferred or 2 to 3 years of experience in accounting with journal entry preparation and ledger-to-subledger reconciliation
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Excel and SAP, Marketing Funds or other subledger experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and customer service focus
