The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for the setup, coordination and reconciliation of US multi-state payroll taxes, Canada payroll taxes, Canada WCB premiums and reporting, and international taxes. This position collaborates with Corporate and internal departments to ensure tax liabilities are appropriately identified, analyzed and reported. The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst also assists in the analysis and reconciliation of payroll tax with various federal, state/ provincial, and local tax agencies, and our payroll processing partners.
This position is based in our Frisco, TX office and will have a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office, 2 days work from home on a weekly basis).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including but not limited to, compliance with US and Canadian state/ provincial, local and federal payroll tax returns and reporting.
- Prepare and reconcile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual balancing for US payroll tax, Canadian payroll tax, Canadian WCB payroll reporting, and international payroll tax.
- Consistently reviews and evaluates all payroll data to ensure appropriate taxes or premiums are paid.
- Maintains accurate Payroll tax data including new rates, limits and account IDs.
- Ensures accurate and timely payments by check, online electronically, or 3rd-party transfer requests as required and keep complete documentation and backup.
- Research and resolve inquiries and/ or audit requests from governmental tax and/ or Canada WCB agencies. Analyze, accurately calculate, report liabilities and liaise with external auditors and agencies for resolution.
- Independently perform various audits to ensure data integrity and partner cross-functionally with payroll, HR, and/or finance to ensure accurate reporting and issue resolution, as well as streamline more efficient auditing processes.
- Assists senior management in researching laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures, and in preparing budgets, projections, and special reporting. Coordinate with technical resources to resolve any tax reporting issues.
- Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and internal controls.
- Performs miscellaneous projects and/ or tasks as assigned.

Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience and/ or certifications
- 3-5 years Payroll experience or minimum of 3 years of payroll tax, accounting or finance.
- CPP or FPC preferred
- Knowledge of payroll tax laws including registering/maintaining state payroll tax accounts
- Solid understanding of the payroll lifecycle, amendments and taxable wages
- Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office products especially Excel and Word
- Systems orientated, including but not limited to, experience with ADP GV and Smart Compliance, Workday and SAP
- Effective communicator with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail with ability to analyze and troubleshoot in a team environment
- Works well in demanding situations with multiple competing deadlines
- Experience handling payroll tax in multiple states (preferred)
- Maintain confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy
