Burlington, Massachusetts; Frisco, Texas Job ID 107903 Job Category Engineering/Technology Job Level Sr Manager Position Type Full-TimeKDP is looking for a Sr Manager R&D, Packaging Technical Services to lead our packaging productivity, cost optimization, capacity expansion and critical quality resolution initiatives for the cold beverage portfolio. Additionally, you would lead the end-to-end concentrate packaging development process. You will be responsible for overseeing the identification, feasibility development and execution of packaging solutions that deliver on productivity targets while meeting the needs of our consumers, customers, and the environment. You will collaborate closely with procurement, packaging R&D brand owners and other cross-functional teams, external partners, and suppliers to ensure alignment and integration of packaging productivity strategies and projects.
The Packaging Technical Services team is responsible for specification and qualification of all bottle, closures, bulk concentrate packages, pouches, labels, and all associated secondary and tertiary packaging utilized withing the cold beverage portfolio. As a packaging R&D leader you will balance your time between packaging strategic direction, people development and project execution. This dynamic role will offer exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to develop our team’s technical depth and foster a high performing team within packaging R&D.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement the productivity packaging vision for cold beverage portfolio, inclusive of strategy, and roadmap for our beverage pkg categories, integrating cross functional strategies in alignment with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
- Lead packaging strategy and implementation for KDP concentrate business in collaboration with the Newbridge concentrate facility, including new ways of working
- Manage the implementation of a new packaging spec system including cross functional leadership alignment while establishing new processes and protocols within the entire packaging R&D team.
- Manage a team of packaging professionals, internal and pkg contractors across various remote locations in US focused on delivering cost savings
- Develop & execute aligned resourcing plans in support of business needs for productivity, business continuity, and critical quality remediation.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key packaging suppliers and partners, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations.
- Coach packaging engineers of all levels to achieve new levels of technical rigor and deliver projects on time
- Develop packaging development processes and refine specifications for packaging as needed
- Validate, and lead execution of new materials for manufacturing scale-up where applicable
- Determine quality requirement standards and support adherence to specifications.
- Work closely with procurement and legal on contracts, IP and supplier agreements.
- Work closely with internal plants, supply chain and raw materials suppliers.
- Develop productivity pipeline through continuous design to value approach
- Provide the procurement and supplier quality departments with advanced-level technical support, including vendor selection, capabilities assessment, and material qualifications.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Science, or related field.
- 12-15+ years of experience in packaging development and execution, preferably in the beverage industry.
- Experience managing packaging technical teams
- Proven track record of leading and delivering innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that meet consumer, customer, and business needs.
- Expertise in development and testing of rigid plastic containers and plastic packaging materials required
- Strong knowledge of all packaging technologies, materials, formats, and testing methods, as well as packaging-related regulations and standards.
- Excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence others.
- Exceptional collaboration, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse and cross-functional teams, both internally and externally.
- High level of creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and analytically.
- Passionate about packaging efficiency, packaging innovation and sustainability, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
- Experience in Design to Value (DTV) a plus
- Experience with producing technical documents (specifications, detailed drawings, structural drawings) required.
- Ability to travel up to 30%
