Join a team shaping the future of coffee innovation. As an Senior Scientist on the Future Coffee Systems team, you’ll turn ideas into reality, taking concepts from benchtop to pilot scale to full production. Your work will help deliver exceptional beverages faster, with uncompromising quality.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in advancing Keurig Dr Pepper’s next-generation coffee systems, creating value for consumers, customers, and partners. You will:

  • Apply scientific methods and technical expertise to develop coffee formulations that delight consumers
  • Drive business success by meeting timelines, cost targets, product requirements, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with appliance engineering teams to develop high quality coffee beverages
  • Have a passion for high quality lab work and research

Essential duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Product development of coffee beverages in a new single serve beverage format
  • Use product and formulation design principles to develop high quality products efficiently
  • Conduct all aspects of product formulation in the lab; sourcing ingredients, roasting and grinding coffee, creating blends, conducting sensory panels and other lab work as necessary
  • Maintain detailed record laboratory and formulation work
  • Create and maintain product specifications
  • Design, execute and analyze experiments using domain knowledge, DoE, and statistical analysis
  • Collaborate with appliance engineers to optimize the brewing system performance of the future coffee system
  • Perform literature searches
  • Educate cross-functional partners on technical and scientific principles as necessary, and mentor other engineers and scientists
  • Partner with various functions of R&D – Sensory, Ingredients, Nutrition, Regulatory, Flavor Technology, Chemistry, Process Engineering, and Technical
  • Comply with all requirements related to food safety and quality

Total Rewards:
  • Salary Range: $76,400-123,000
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors
  • Benefits, subject to election and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Paid Time Off (including paid parental leave, vacation, and sick time), 401k with company match, Tuition Reimbursement, and Mileage Reimbursement
  • Annual bonus based on performance and eligibility

Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering, food science or closely related discipline with 5+ years of experience
  • Ph.D. in engineering or food science is a plus
  • You are a coffee engineer. You have a ritualistic obsession with brewing the best coffee and espresso beverages, and you will bring that passion to developing the best tasting coffee beverages for consumers
  • Demonstrated experience with product formulation and design using best practices
  • Knowledge and experience in design of experiments such as factorial designs and mixture designs, as applied to product and process formulation
  • Knowledge and experience in material characterization as it relates to product development, such as water activity, moisture isotherms, moisture and drying kinetics and particle size analysis
  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in adapting to changing business needs and priorities
  • Understanding of statistical data analysis and software tools such as JMP, Python, R
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Detailed oriented
  • Highly competent in MS Office product suite
  • Ability to travel; 25%+ during certain periods of time
