Job Description

As a Roasting Coach in Production, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations in Roasting, Grinding and Green Bean Receiving to support the plant's roasting business objectives. 

Shift & Schedule:

This position will be based at our Knoxville, TN plant and will support our D2 Shift, working Friday - Sunday with alternating Thursdays, from 5:00am - 5:15pm EST. 

*Additional flexibility to work beyond these hours, depending on changing business needs, is also required. 


This position is a salaried role on a bi-weekly pay cycle. Pay will be determined based on experience. Attractive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401K, PTO, etc.) is also available. 

What you will do:

  • Supervises personnel in the Roasting and Green Bean Department (approximately 20-25 direct reports).
  • Communicates roasting and grinding plans and status across department lines.
  • Works with Quality, Roast Master, Maintenance and Production to produce consistent high quality coffee while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Contributes to a cohesive, positive and clean work environment by providing guidance, performance feedback and coaching to team members. Serves as the technical expert and resource for plant roasting team members.
  • Ensures team member’s development and satisfaction. Supports team members in presenting ideas for improving the efficiency and productivity of operations.
  • Operates within established budgets, forecasts, cost objectives and service levels to control expenses. Supports implementation of cost, quality and service improvement initiatives.
  • Supports all established plant and manufacturing goals and objectives. Apprises his/her direct report of team progress and any obstacles.
  • Identifies root causes of obstacles, recommends to management corrective actions, implements agreed upon solutions and audits results to insure problem has been solved
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's Principles, policies and applicable laws.
  • Accountable for communication, interviewing and hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, leveraging team and individual strengths, managing performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and solving problems to ensure high performance results.
  • Ensure the staff is aware of their responsibility to report food safety, quality and regulatory compliance to plant or division personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Responsible for ensuring the production of a safe, wholesome and quality product and requires trained designees when applicable.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management
  • Follow all Keurig Dr Pepper policies and procedures


What you must have:

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience of a production team of up to 20 or more
  • Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred with 5 years of relevant experience, or 8 years of experience applying comprehensive, hands-on knowledge of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures involved in coffee processing/packaging or a related manufacturing field
  • Good organizational and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive, personable, professional with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.
  • Perform at a high level of accuracy in a fast past environment
  • Able to understand and communicate basic skills and instructions.
  • Must be able to understand and demonstrate safety skills.
  • Must be hands on when short staffed.
  • Ability to uphold Safety standards, participates in Continuous Process
  • Improvement on the job, and follows our Manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to following Keurig Dr Pepper policies and procedures as well as our operating principles.
