Senior Software Engineer - Warehouse Operations and Automation

Location: Spartanburg or Frisco

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Technology Engineer to oversee our warehouse operations and automation systems. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration of technology within our warehouse environment, supporting daily business operations, and driving efficiency through innovative automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of warehouse management systems (SAP WMS, SAP EWM), SAP ECC, and automation technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address IT-related needs within warehouse operations.
  • Lead initiatives to deploy digital warehouse processes using automation and robotics (which includes AGV, AMR, and other autonomous material handling equipment).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to warehouse automation systems.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including IT, Supply Chain and warehouse operations, to align WMS and automation functionalities with business objectives.
  • Manage existing and explore new opportunities for system and process improvement in the warehouse area, making recommendations through technology and automation.
  • Manage IT projects related to warehouse operations, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Have a solid understanding of budget and vendor management.
  • Collaborate with WMS and automation vendors to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in warehouse automation and IT.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related program.
  • Minimum of five years in warehouse management with focus on WMS implementation, and automation systems. Technical proficiency in WMS software, automation tools, and system integration.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS/EWM), SAP ECC, and automation technologies. Basic knowledge in EDI and iDOC concepts required.
  • Basic knowledge of Networking and Infrastructure – understanding how network infrastructure works to ensure seamless communication between devices and systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management and Agile experience required.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Shipping and Transportation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with integrating various software systems using APIs to ensure smooth data flow and interoperability.
  • Skills in analyzing data to identify trends and improve warehouse operations
  • Automation and Technology Skills (Automated Guided Vehicles) strongly recommended
  • System Integration experience: Understanding of how to integrate AGVs with existing warehouse management systems (WMS) and other automation technologies
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Proficiency in logistics software and IT systems
  • Knowledge of automation technologie
  • Strong communication and project management skills
