The Spartanburg operation is a state-of-the-art coffee roasting and pod packaging facility in addition to hosting a full beverage distribution centers, Spartanburg is the largest KDRP manufacturing and distribution location. The site will operate on the foundational principles of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance); leverage the principles of Lean manufacturing and harness the power of High Performance Teams. All associates at the Spartanburg site will have accountability to both a functional business unit in addition to the full site operation. The site will run on first-in-class enterprise IT and manufacturing execution systems with highly automated processing, packaging, and material movement equipment.
SUMMARY:
As a Roaster II, you will be responsible for providing continuous flow of coffee within the Spartanburg site. You will be expected to gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Coffee Roasting process and be capable of providing relief for all employees in the mBU (mini Business Unit). You will develop a deep understanding of green coffee and coffee roasting techniques, understand the mechanical functions and software interfaces within our coffee processing equipment, and utilize communication and leadership skills to engage with other associates in the coffee processing mBU.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver best-in-class performance across the balanced Scorecard
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized and safe work environment, Adhere to 6S standards, perform behavioral safety observations, trains employees on ways to keep themselves and those around them safe and demonstrates the ability to stay calm and alert in emergency situations in order to lead others though protocols and procedures
- Have a clear understanding of the origin of the coffee, decaf processes, Keurig Dr Pepper Blends, and roasting technology, be able to perform and monitor in line tests using particle distribution analyzers and color sampling equipment, and monitor and inspect, and adjust if necessary, each roast to ensure adherence to Keurig Dr Pepper specs
- Monitors daily schedule and interacts with scheduling and operations teams to ensure uninterrupted production across the factory
- Capable of performing all activities with the mBU, including AM and PM activities (with assistance of a maintenance tech), and provides continuous observation of the roasting and grinding processes and coffee delivery systems to ensure optimal performance
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Lead and sustain TPM-based Production Environment
- Support the site TPM journey and the various implementations
- Perform standard work for Autonomous (AM) and Preventative (PM) maintenance activities.
- Actively participate in various Kaizen activities at the site and assist in line and zone implementations of improvements identified during the events.
- Partner with maintenance on the execution of preventative maintenance, and lead improvement activities on issues that cross team and functional boundaries.
Engage in mini Business Unit Structure (mBU) and High Performing Team (HPT) model
- Provide support for plant and zone board meetings, identify trends in data and propose action steps where appropriate positively adapts to the changing business environment.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with others, complete all tasks in work area and contribute fair share of team’s work, communicate status of work during shift transitions, demonstrate a willingness to help other team members, receive and provide constructive feedback, and display high level of cooperation across the site

Total Rewards
- Pay starting at $27.96 per hour. The employee will move to a higher rate of $29.39 per hour in the quarter after their 6-month anniversary.

Requirements
- 2 years of experience working in a production environment with the ability to understand and monitor complex equipment with automated control systems ie roasters, blenders and grinders etc.
- 2 years of Quality Assurance and or Quality Control experience. HAACP background preferred
- Willingness and desire to develop by gaining coffee industry specific qualifications (Q-grader, SCAA Coffee certifications, etc.
- Computer knowledge of Microsoft Applications, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution Systems
- Experience with Production Scheduling, Planning and inventory control systems preferred
- Flexible, self-motivated team player with the ability to follow direction and work independently.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 75 pounds frequently without assistance
- Ability to constantly lift, bend, stretch and stand during entire shift.
- Ability to frequently kneel, squat, bend, and stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motion Ability to spend significant time standing on the manufacturing floor with some frequency of computer work
