Quality Control Technician - Irving, TX
The Quality Technician performs tests on samples to ensure compliance with specifications and suitability for use in production and quality. They record and review results, issue notifications for out-of-spec samples, and support the site Quality and Safety agendas. Additionally, they supervise temporary workers during the apple harvest (September and October) and calibrate and maintain instrumentation.
Shift/Schedule: This is a full-time position working on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, 1:00pm - 9:30pm. Flexibility to work outside of normal schedule, including weekends and holidays, is required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct apple inspections and tests at various stages of apple receiving and storage to ensure compliance with standards, including pressure, brix, starch, and acid testing.
- Submit samples for pesticide and heavy metal testing, and calculate apple quality and blend data on a daily basis.
- Provide support at both the Williamson, NY site and the contracted CW Cold Storage site in Holley, NY. Adapt to varying workdays and hours based on the company’s inspection schedule.
- Drive to the offsite receiving facility CW to manage inspectors once before harvest and once every other week during harvest, or as needed.
- Oversee the training and certification of apple inspectors, testers, and bin taggers. Ensure training and certification adhere to Keurig Dr Pepper’s Apple Inspection Procedures and Criteria, making updates as necessary. Act as the point of contact for these roles and escalate any issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Partner with temporary agencies to fill the seasonal positions needed for apple harvest. Provide feedback on start/end dates and working hours.
- Continuously review and improve current inspection procedures and training.
- Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance supervisors when issues arise.
- Utilize SAP and spreadsheets to file and maintain sample data.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain inspection equipment and instrumentation.
- Prepare reagents and solutions for use in testing. Observe conditions and practices in current inspection procedures and training and make recommendations for improvement.
Total Rewards:
- Pay starting at $24.04 per hour. The employee will move to a higher rate of $25.36 per hour in the quarter after their 6-month anniversary.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
- 1+ years of related Quality Control experience with a raw fruit commodity, preferably apples.
- Flexibility to work overtime during the apple harvest and varying days and hours based on the company’s inspection needs.
- Basic ability to manage emails using Microsoft Outlook, including organizing emails, scheduling calendar appointments, and using search functions to find information.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, basic formatting, using simple formulas and functions, and performing sort and filter operations
