Senior Automation Manager

This initiative requires a strategic shift in our engineering and automation approach. Historically, automation solutions were determined at the individual plant level; however, we are moving towards a unified set of automation standards and guidelines. The Automation Manager will play a pivotal role in this transition, collaborating with the logistics sites, automation providers, and system integrators, with a strong focus on brown and greenfield sites in the near term.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Standards: Create automation system standards and guidelines in partnership with external suppliers and internal KDP teams, covering areas such as simulation, parts management, uptime, and performance improvements with integrators.
- Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers to finalize automation system specifications, ensuring design and delivery align with established standards.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to verify that automation systems meet performance specifications.
- Site Support: Participate in equipment startup at manufacturing sites and update specifications based on insights gained during startup and technological advancements.
- Continuous Learning: Maintain up-to-date professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing industry publications, while adhering to all safety regulations.
Position requires up to 40% travel

Requirements
- Education: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or Supply Chain.
- Experience: 5-7 years in automation/digitalization within a manufacturing or logistics environment, with expertise in design, vendor management, and startup processes.
- Project Management: Proven experience managing programs, with a solid understanding of change management principles and methodologies.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of automation systems, LGV’s, AMR’s, including PLC, SCADA, simulation, database reporting, ERP integration, and emerging logistics technologies.
- Skills: Detail-oriented, analytical, and creative thinker with a passion for improving and digitizing work processes. Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in dynamic environments.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent influencing, communication, and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a matrixed organization.
Travel Requirements
The role involves travel to suppliers for automation system design reviews and FATs, as well as visits to other CPS factories for benchmarking. Expect travel to greenfield locations for design reviews and extended periods of travel during construction, commissioning, and stabilization phases.
