Routing Supervisor - Frisco, TX

The Routing Supervisor oversees a route planning team. This role involves leading and developing Route Planners, ensuring the creation of efficient daily delivery plans, maintaining accurate data in routing software, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to meet operational goals. The Supervisor ensures compliance with company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while driving performance and safety standards.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid work environment with some fieldwork, including site visits and route monitoring.
  • May require early morning shifts, occasional weekends, or extended hours during high-volume periods.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and mentor a team of Route Planners to achieve high performance and operational excellence.
  • Route Optimization: Review daily route plans as needed, analyze planned vs. actual performance and truck capacities to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Data Management: Conduct regular audits to maintain accurate master data in routing software (e.g., Descartes Route Planner) and ensure system reliability.
  • Coverage Planning: Develop and manage schedules for Route Planners’ vacation, holidays, and other leave to ensure uninterrupted routing operations; provide backup routing support during absences or peak periods.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Utilize tools like Excel, Power BI, Business Warehouse Reporting, and Teams to generate and present performance metrics and actionable insights to regional leadership.
  • Training & Development: Conduct periodic training sessions on software enhancements, sales, merchandising, delivery, warehouse operations, systems, and communication skills.
  • Collaboration: Build strong relationships with sales, delivery, and warehouse teams to align routing operations with business needs.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to company safety standards and DOT regulations during all routing activities.
  • Site Engagement: Conduct site visits to connect with branch personnel, promote team engagement, and address operational challenges.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, standardize workflows, and implement best practices for continuous improvement.

Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED with 3 years of routing/logistics experience, OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with 1 year of routing/logistics experience.
  • Experience:
  • 1 year of working knowledge of DOT federal regulations.
  • 1 year of experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • 2 years of experience with Descartes Route Planner or comparable routing software.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for site visits and regional meetings.
  • Certifications: Valid driver’s license; additional certifications (e.g., logistics or safety training) are a plus.
