Job Overview:

The Director, Technical Accounting will report to the Vice President of Accounting and will be a member of the Controller Leadership Team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the future BevCo’s accounting and finance organization to help ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS and the Company’s accounting policies. This person will work closely with members of accounting, finance and other commercial partners on various technical accounting matters, including proposed structuring, to ensure transactions are appropriately recorded within the Company’s financial statements.

This position is based at our HQ in Frisco, TX and will have a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office and 2 days work from home on a weekly basis) based on company policy.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Technical Accounting Leadership:

  • Researching, documenting, and resolving technical accounting issues facing the business in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS

  • Performing contract reviews to ensure compliance with the accounting standards and corporate policies

  • Consider implication of new accounting pronouncements on the Company’s current accounting policies

  • Monitoring and communicating relevant information regarding new and emerging accounting standards; and assistance in implementing new standards as appropriate

  • Periodic training to update the Company’s finance and accounting teams on new and emerging accounting standards

Financial Reporting:

  • Provide support to External Reporting team as necessary on a quarterly basis for SEC reporting and annually for statutory reporting in foreign jurisdictions

  • Ownership of the goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible asset annual impairment process and quarterly triggering event review

  • Support the non-GAAP governance process, which involves interaction with senior finance leadership

Cross Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Company’s external auditors on technical accounting topics, new accounting pronouncements, and their respective impact and application

  • Work closely with finance, legal and operational teams to address accounting-related issues and provide technical expertise on transactions, contracts and other business initiatives

  • Partner with commercial and procurement teams to provide technical support during contract negotiations on how best to structure agreements for the optimal accounting position for the Company 

  • Assist management with merger and acquisition (M&A) activities (including valuation, purchase price accounting and related documentation of such transactions)

  • Be an active participant on ad hoc special projects as directed by accounting and finance management

  • Clearly communicate technical accounting decisions and ensure proper recording within the Company's general ledger

Total Rewards:
  • Salary Range: $155,500 - $190,000
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors,
  • Benefits, subject to election and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Paid Time Off (including paid parental leave, vacation, and sick time), 401k with company match, Tuition Reimbursement, and Mileage Reimbursement
  • Annual bonus based on performance and eligibility

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting

  • Active CPA required

  • 10+ years of experience is required

  • Substantial experience in and working knowledge of authoritative U.S. GAAP and IFRS technical accounting research and application. Subject matter expertise will include derivatives, business combinations, investments and financing structures

  • Must be able to make judgment calls regarding the resolution of issues

  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) with an executive presence to interact with senior finance leaders

  • Hands on mentality and approach – lead by doing; become an integral part of the team

  • Change management – able to manage changes in job responsibilities as they arise and execute

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to challenges

Preferred requirements:

  • Preferably at least 8+ years of experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm and additional 4+ years of a large accelerated SEC filer/Fortune 500 company

  • Exposure to consumer products a plus.
