Senior Manager, Workers’ Compensation – Direct Store Delivery (DSD)
The Senior Manager, Workers' Compensation will report into the Senior Director, EHS and will partner with the DSD Field HR Business Partners, Legal, DSD Employee Health & Safety, Risk, Benefits and DSD leadership to execute KDP’s workers' compensation policies and procedures and ensure compliance to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Lead the efforts to manage all U.S. Workers’ Compensation for KDP’s Direct Store Delivery (DSD) employees, primarily field sales, delivery drivers and warehouse employees. This role will administer the workers' compensation program for the organization including the timely processing of workers’ compensation claims; providing consult to injured employees and their supervisors; coordinating leave of absence to include return to work for injured employees; evaluating accident reports to determine accuracy and completeness; providing training and guidance to supervisors and employees; providing support for defense counsel, when needed, of workers’ compensation claims; supports loss prevention and accident investigation efforts; and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Location: This is a remote position with up to 25% travel.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and mentors a team of Workers’ Compensation Analysts, ensuring high-quality employee interactions, follow-ups, and case management.
- Works with existing claims management systems to streamline processes, develop dashboards, create departmental scorecards, etc.
- Collaborates with HR, legal, and EHS teams to ensure legal and regulatory compliance in all claims-related activities. Provides guidance on potential legal and regulatory challenges.
- Works with business partners to create a multi-year plan to reduce claims activity.
- Evaluates accident reports, ensuring the timely processing of medical bills and temporary total disability benefits, reviews medical reports, witness statements, department investigation results and other documentation. Compiles facts and data regarding accident reports and filed cases.
- Coordinates with HRBPs and Workers’ Compensation Analysts on Leave of Absence, FMLA, ADA and the interactive process.
- Maintains subrogation records and files for those incidents involving third parties
- Reviews documentation to determine whether medical bills and temporary total disability benefits should be continued.
- Advises and/or assists departments in conducting investigation of accident reports, including interviewing of witnesses and procurement of relevant documentation.
- Trains supervisors in the proper procedures, systems and forms to be utilized in workers' compensation matters and the preparation of accident reports, notices of absence, and notices of return to work in accordance with the Workers' Compensation Act.
- Documents telephone conversations, witness statements, medical reports, accident investigation results and payment of medical bills
- Implements and/or supports corporate-wide return to work/transitional duty programs.
- Participates in periodic claim reviews
- Analyzes claim trends to develop recommendations for improved safety and claims management efforts and support EH&S initiatives.
- Collaborates with KDP stakeholders, (i.e., EH&S, Risk Management, HR, Payroll & others)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Total Rewards:
- Salary Range: $123,300 - $155,000
- Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety Environment and Health, Loss Prevention or related field preferred. Alternatively, a combination of education and equivalent work experience is acceptable.
- A minimum of five (5) years of safety, risk management or related experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- At least three to five (3-5) years of experience managing company or partner workers' compensation programs.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience in industries with large-scale hourly employee populations
- Excellent understanding of legal and regulatory requirements governing worker health and safety (i.e., FMLA, OSHA, Cal-OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, etc.)
- Proficiency in using Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools
- Ability to manage relationships with insurance carriers and brokers to ensure optimal claims handling.
- Attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and strong analytical skills
- Excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills
- Probability and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); intermediate-level Excel skills are particularly important
- Proven ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization
- Willingness to work flexible hours to support multiple shifts and time zones, adapting to dynamic business needs
