Reporting to the CHRO, this VP Human Resources will partner with senior leaders in our Commercial and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) organization, serving as a strategic advisor and driver of talent and culture initiatives to deliver business results. Key responsibilities will include consultation and leadership in the areas of change management, talent and leadership development, succession planning, performance management, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, organizational design and effectiveness, employee relations, and workforce planning/analytics. As a member of the HR Leadership Team, this leader will help shape the HR functional strategy and will partner with centers of excellence on key organizational needs. This VP HR role will lead a team of 50 HR professionals in our field and HQ locations.

What you will do: 

-Partner with senior leaders to understand the business strategy and develop an HR agenda that supports the needs of the teams with a focus on culture and capability
-Act as advisor and confidant to leaders. Coach and develop employees and managers at all levels of the organization
-Coach and develop HR team members as we continue on our HR transformation journey
-Partner with the broader HR team and HR centers of excellence to develop solutions for business needs and effectively implement company-wide initiatives
-Partner with the Labor team on developing labor strategy, aligning on contract negotiations priorities, and supporting our union avoidance approach

-Develop human resources solutions and solve people related business problems by monitoring key business metrics, collecting and analyzing data and recommending courses of action
-Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems, evaluating potential solutions, implementing selected solutions, and coaching and counseling managers and employees
-Provide HR policy, practices, and policy guidance to management and apply knowledge across the disciplines of HR, such as talent acquisition, learning and talent development, organizational effectiveness, change management, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, employment law, internal communications, and leadership. 
-Operate at a high level to strategically apply, monitor and enforce employment laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

-Responsible for providing expertise on laws that impact the company such as EEO, Worker’s Compensation, FSLA, OSHA, OWBPA, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and other federal, state, or local regulations.



Requirements

What you must have: 

-BA/BS in Human Resources Management or a related field required; advanced degree and/or PHR/SPHR certification preferred -15+ years Human Resources experience in a fast-paced, high-volume, customer-focused environment, with an emphasis on interpersonal relationship building, employee relations, and project management
-Experience leading distributed HR teams required
-Experience working in a union environment required
-Experience as an HR partner with corporate team(s) required

-Large scale change management experience required (e.g., merger and acquisition integration, significant restructuring, etc.)
-Demonstrated success translating business strategies into organizational and HR strategies and actions.
-Effective negotiating and influencing skills
-Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
-Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to solve complex business problems
-Proven track record of managing complex HR related projects
-Ability to motivate and influence the work of others
-Excellent organizational and prioritization skills essential
-Demonstrated ability in handling highly sensitive and confidential matters effectively and discreetly
-Working knowledge of employment law and benefits administration
-Familiarity with HRIS databases (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP) and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Outlook
-Ability to regularly travel and occasionally work a flexible schedule
