Job Description



The Sustaining Engineering Manager will be responsible for sustaining all mass production appliances in one of Keurig Dr Pepper Appliance families. The Sustaining Engineering Manager will manage a team of Project Engineers and Quality Engineers to meet or exceed quality targets, achieve cost objectives, and release product line variants according to the family product roadmap.

This position will be hands on and will require individual contribution as well as mentoring direct reports to be able to consistently deliver high quality work. The Sustaining Engineering Manager is the main point of contact for the business for sustaining products in the family and will periodically report out to family and department leads on their status. The Sustaining Engineering Manager will maintain the backlog of projects, prioritize the backlog based on business impact, assign resources, and maintain development schedules and block change plans.  The Sustaining Engineering Manager will be responsible for making sure all appropriate lessons learned are available for review by the New Product Development teams.

What you will do:

  • Manage a team of engineers to support quality improvements and model line extensions.
  • Develop quality improvement plans for family products based on feedback from returns, reviews, and manufacturing reports, supported by data analytics.
  • Interface with manufacturing and supplier partners.
  • Be responsible for all engineering changes including technical content, validation plan and reports, and documentation accuracy.
  • Work with 3rd party logistics for all quality issues, such as holds, inspections, and rework.
  • Create and present reports on quality and brewer cost targets for the leadership team.
  • Drive product improvements into new products through internal platform teams, based on field performance.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel and off hours calls and meetings with global partners


Requirements

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s in an Engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of professional experience in a relevant industry.
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams.
  • Previous experience managing projects or programs with internal and external resources.
  • Ability to maintain timelines and budgets across multiple partners.
  • Familiarity with Lean and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience using 3D modeling tools such as Solidworks.
  • Good understanding of product documentation and PLM.
  • High volume consumer product design experience.
  • Design for Six Sigma practices including Root Cause Analysis, 8D, A3, Design of Experiments, etc.
  • Understanding of statistics as applicable to high volume product design and manufacture. Experience with JMP is a plus.
  • Ability to present technologies and status of development projects to management and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated record of making critical decisions that positively impact the course of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
