The Senior Technical Leadership role within Research and Development will lead the Innovation and Sustainability agenda to develop consumer-centric packaging across existing and new platforms. The incumbent will be a strategic thinker, natural collaborator, and lead the development of new concepts, prototypes, and structures to inspire teams to execute new packaging technologies. This role positions Keurig Dr Pepper to develop and commercialize new packaging to delight our consumers and customers.

In this role, the key areas of focus for the Senior Manager will be to:

  1. Advance our business priorities through technical excellence and leadership, fueling our Innovation growth agenda and meeting our Sustainability commitments
  2. Lead the development of new packages across Bottle, Can, Pouch, Carton, Flexible, and other formats ensuring we deliver on development and execution excellence
  3. Scout and develop new Packaging technologies in collaboration with Marketing, Procurement, Supply Chain, and R&D

The Senior Manager, Packaging Innovation will work in a dynamic, fast paced, and highly collaborative environment where strategic thinking, creativity, leadership, and a self-motivated drive for excellence & results is critical.  The ideal candidate will design, develop, & implement holistic innovative packaging solutions that contribute to the overall Innovation and sustainability agenda of KDP. There will be a high degree of interaction and collaboration with Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, R&D, Packaging Suppliers, Universities, and External Agencies.


  • Manages team of Packaging Engineers, where role is empowered to make packaging decisions & recommendations while influencing key stakeholders and Brand owners on the functionality & role of packaging
  • Co-creates the Packaging Innovation strategy across brands influencing stakeholders, peers, and team to sell and execute the strategic vision and road map
  • Develop and commercialize packages across KDP Beverage Portfolio to deliver on Innovation and Sustainability agenda (Coffee, Tea, Juice, Carbonated Soft Drinks, Water, Gifting, Seasonal)
  • Uses Design Thinking tools and frameworks to develop holistic business case proposals with cross-functional business partners on new Packaging concepts and technologies (Desirability, Viability, and Feasibility)
  • Lead and manages technical feasibility studies on new packaging platforms delivered through internal and/or external collaboration in partnership with cross-functional leaders
  • Actively influences and participates in Marketing and Consumer Research programs to gain consumer insights, and translate into key packaging concepts
  • Leads key programs across several packaging categories partnering with Procurement, Supply Chain, Marketing, and R&D
  • Develop and communicate business updates across key programs to stakeholders
  • Manage and optimize the packaging development process
  • Develop robust Performance and Development plans for each direct report to ensure talent development is key priority within High Performance Team culture
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Positively influence and engage in a creative, performance driven culture



  • BS in Chemical, Packaging, Industrial Design, Mechanical. MS/MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Consumer Packaged Goods company, food and beverage is plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience managing, leading, and developing direct reports
  • Extremely strong skills in business acumen, influencing, leading cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in Design Thinking and able to bring approach into programs, concept generation, consumer research, problem solving
  • Successfully executed programs from idea, concept development, testing, validation to market commercialization
  • Foundational understanding in injection and stretch blow molding applications. Additional experience with hot fill, cold fill, retort, and aseptic packaging a plus.
  • Ability to travel is required
