Job Description

The R&D Product development Scientist II will support initiatives that fuel growth for Keurig Dr Pepper delivering Productivity and Continuous Improvement.  The role is part of the global R&D team focusing on consumer driven margin and quality improvements enabling KDP Brands to re-invest. 

The role is highly hands on and requires applying knowledge of green coffee origin, roasting, grinding, and extraction sciences to deliver consistent and great tasting coffee experiences.  The role focuses on the development of Coffee and Specialty Beverages from Concept to Commercialization, including the following responsibilities:

  • Support the development and commercialization of hot beverages, supporting the values of unrivaled quality, and product superiority across core brands and platforms.
  • Interpret experimental test results and generate recommendations for product/ process improvements. Write activity reports/summaries: compile data, submit observations, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Assist with shelf-life studies to confirm that the product formulations and packaging technologies deliver an acceptable product life in the market. Operate related analytical equipment.
  • Cleans and organizes the laboratory and Pilot Plant space as needed.
  • Support in product commercialization activities according to established policies and procedures: Commissioning, Qualification, and Verification. Ability to plan and coordinate workload to support multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Apply critical thinking and problem solving tools in daily activities
  • Follow all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by KDP and the R&D department
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality required in an R&D environment



  • Minimum associates degree in a Science Discipline or 3-5 years directly relatable experience
  • Willingness / ability to travel 25%
  • Ability to work in a variety of conditions to include: office activity with keyboarding/computer work required, laboratory and Pilot Plant activities, overnight travel and full-days on the plant floor as needed.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented; thirst for learning new skills and systems
  • Strong math, science, written and verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively and contribute to a team environment
  • Strong organizational ability with great attention to detail needed
  • Computer/technology skills (Microsoft Office Suite, etc)
  • Understanding of food and human safety
  • Change Readiness, Resiliency, and Flexibility to thrive in a constantly-changing and fast-moving work environment.
