Job Description

As a Quality Technician you will analyze and solve quality problems across the Keurig Dr Pepper Operations, to ensure that product meeting specifications and customer expectations is consistently and predictably being produced.   This includes, but is not limited to, collecting, analyzing quality data, applying quality tools and fundamental statistical methods for process control and process improvements, documenting procedures, and analyzing process data, performing process and product and food safety audits, develop reporting on quality issues, and participating as an active and constructive member of the quality team.  The responsibility emphasis is centered on supporting QA roles and the QC technicians in problem identification and prevention. This position promotes and supports Keurig Dr Pepper’s continuous improvement efforts and initiatives, supporting the Keurig Dr. Pepper’s Coffee Operations in all aspects of Quality and the Company Purpose and Principles.

Shift hours:

Friday - Sunday with alternate Thursdays from 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM.

What you will do:

  • Continuously relying support to production floor and operations.
  • Additional customization based on site of assignment
  • Participate in internal process and product audits
  • Monitor QC test data weekly and understand special causes
  • Interface with Knoxville Production Team to compare data and activities and share improvements etc.
  • Interface with the External and Internal quality partners.
  • Interface with other QA/QC roles including Sensory Coffee Lab (All sites as needed)
  • Become knowledgeable in SAP transactions for the flow of work orders and material through the WIP processes.  Including Product and Qualification hold process.
  • Involved with QA testing in one or more product or process areas, including all SKU’s or items produced within those processes.
  • Helps in the development and application of effective quality product and process plans to ensure full compliance to product standards, specifications, and quality system requirements.   This also includes labeling and certification requirements.
  • Participates in the implementation of product quality improvement initiatives to reduce process variation and prevent defects. 
  • Work with the QA personnel to review proposed product standard changes or new product offerings prior to implementation, to help assess the impact on product/process quality requirements and helps to implement appropriate changes as needed. 
  • Represent the customer perspective – help to answer all anticipated customer questions during the problem resolution process.
  • Support the business goals with other related duties as business conditions warrant and are directed. 
  • Use quality tools (and others) to troubleshoot, identify, and analyze problems to the true root cause level, and work with the appropriate teams to implement solutions and ensure the identified root cause problems are resolved.
  • Support activities to build quality into the product through process and system improvements, proactive planning, and responsive reactions to emergencies in a structured approach to resolve root causes.
  • Document data and facts in clear and easy to understand structures in order to work issues most effectively.
  • Perform thorough research and clearly document and articulate logic used during the problem solving process.
  • Define alternatives and recommend solutions to root causes identified for issues or potential issues.
  • Be constructive and take responsibility for needed actions to support quality and business goals.
  • Understand the process areas responsible for, as well as other input and or output processes that may have an impact relationship.  Define control points and bottlenecks and work with process teams to most effectively monitor them.
  • Interpret standards and specifications from a quality standpoint.
  • Regular reporting of measures that reflect process outputs and customer requirements / expectations.
  • Help to define, develop, and maintain quality information records. 
  • Help our teams on defect containment, failure analysis, preventative actions.
  • Assists in communications to internal customers from a quality standpoint, and for facilitation of processing of nonconforming material.
  • Use basic quality principles, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.  Train others as you develop expertise.
  • Conduct a finished good test plan (as appropriate for area(s) assigned) and implementation for periodic reporting and comparison to field data.
  • Help to maintain a quality management system that provides timely, useful and accurate data collection and analysis.  Strive to improve user-friendliness of applications and broaden the visibility of data-turned-into-knowledge.
  • Customers - Assure internal and external customer satisfaction by understanding expectations, establishing open 2-way communication and meeting our commitments.
  • Ensure the staff is aware of their responsibility to report food safety, quality and regulatory compliance to plant or division personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Multitasking is required daily, and constant assessment of prioritization is required to best meet both the customer and business needs.
  • Must work effectively in team environments, communicating and participating in a constructive manner.
  • Must be proactive, anticipating and planning to meet objectives by finding ways to identify potential obstacles and improve processes and procedures to prevent occurrence.
  • Responsibility to report food safety, quality and regulatory compliance to plant or division personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Responsible for ensuring the production of a safe, wholesome and quality product and requires trained designees when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.


What you must have:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • High School or GED equivalent certification is required.
  • 1-4+ years of Quality Assurance experience in the Food industry required.
  • 0-4+ years experience in a production environment required.
  • Basic to intermediate Excel and Word skills is required. 
  • SAP or similar ERP experience is preferred. 
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Coffee sensory process experience desired
  • Manufacturing experience in the Food industry desired
  • Statistics and analytical experience desired using excel
  • Effective Problem Solving skills
  • Reliable, dependable, and good communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions
