The Process Engineer enhances service quality and equipment reliability by improving workflows and optimizing maintenance processes using TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and builds our TPM Culture and leverages Lean Six Sigma practices and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology.  The Process Engineer has a critical role in supporting and driving key plant strategic initiatives while helping minimize downtime and failure rates while maximizing productivity.

Position Responsibilities

  • Leads improvement initiatives, training, and troubleshooting for Critical to Quality equipment throughout the facility, and builds and maintains partnerships across the KDP network to implement best practices
  • Drives projects to successful completion, resulting in highly satisfied customers and product solutions which support the business growth objectives.
  • Identifies and captures opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability, as well as waste reduction.
  • Oversee the installation of all facility equipment, with a focus on process validation and engagement with CVP
  • Drives daily Quality risk reduction efforts and preventive actions
  • Uses Lean Six Sigma and RCM concepts to optimize work processes, adapt maintenance tools and procedures to improve equipment utilization and reliability, and minimize service quality incidents.
  • Reliability analysis and implementation of predictive maintenance elements.
  • Data analysis and data mining activities for machine failure events.
  • Gathers and examines basic reliability data from shop floor studies or database and correlates the data for analysis using well-defined engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Performs detailed/routine engineering calculations involving relatively simple tests on less complicated system details where ingenuity and high-level judgment are not required.
  • Initiates elemental engineering studies into equipment/process failures and presents analysis details for approval/feedback.
  • Assists others in root cause failure analysis to avoid future failures.
  • Directs, prepares and plans capital and expense project activities, including engineering design, quotations, scheduling, installing, and start-up, to maximize facility productivity and efficiency on time and within budget. 
  • Conduct regular status meetings with all stakeholders, keeping the stakeholder’s needs and requirements continuously in view.
  • Be engaged with industry trends and how to leverage new technology into design standards to drive profitability
  • Establish clear ownership for project tasks within the team and a clear schedule for when each task will be performed. Ensure that team members have the tools needed and provide timely feedback.
  • Assists with development and coaching of technical job elements across functions.
  • Supports Engineering, Maintenance, and TPM team in planning for equipment and maintenance resources and correcting existing discrepancies.
  • Leads problem solving for more complex or difficult TPM issues. Perform root cause analysis, testing and simulation, data verification, countermeasure concept, and install proactive final corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead site kaizen activity for reliability, maintainability, and total productive maintenance.  This will include but not limited to supporting, developing, driving and improving activities for 5S, teamwork, autonomous maintenance, and sustainable TPM systems.
  • Training and coaching / mentoring of associates in TPM elements, which will include Breakdown Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, Periodic Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, and Maintenance Prevention.
  • Participates in technical audits and compliance assessments, and follows up on closure of remedial action plans
  • Oversee work, and set or edit standards, policies and procedures for Vendors and Contractors
  • Manage financial aspects of the operation area including annual budget development, capital planning and administration.
  • Mandatory On-call availability to respond to all facility emergencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in engineering or applied science.
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing based experience (Food & Beverage or Pharmaceutical background preferred) and previous project management experience preferred
  • Understanding of industry standards associated with Food & Beverage  
  • Creative problem solver (as opposed to process follower) in ambiguous situations
  • A record of success in implementing lean manufacturing concepts for continuous improvement (TPM/5S)
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills in a global environment
  • Self-motivated approach and experience in dealing with ambiguity while performing critical project steps
  • Experience in defining project prioritization and flexible to shift project focus upon business decisions
  • Experience working closely with Production and Maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Visio and Power Point, Data Analytics Software (e.g. JMP or Minitab), and costing/clean sheet systems
