Job Description



The Allentown operation is a state of the art aseptic bottling and variety packaging facility along with a full beverage distribution center.  The site operation will function on the foundational principles of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance); principles of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma; and the power of High Performance Teams.  All associates at the Allentown site will have specific accountability and ownership to the site operations and to their respective functional business operation.  The site will run on state of the art enterprise information technology systems and manufacturing execution systems; and with highly automated processing equipment, packaging equipment, and material movement equipment; and very standardized lean processes.  This position will be responsible for the EHS functions in the Manufacturing and Distribution sites.

Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II

As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist you will provide technical safety, health, and environmental expertise to employees, safety committees, and/or other work teams and appropriate coaching to the Office, DC, Facilities, Engineering, IT, Finance, HR, Quality, Maintenance, and Manufacturing. You will coordinate the environmental, safety, and health function plant-wide by assisting in the implementation of effective Management Systems that include: policies, procedures, training programs based on task analysis, needs assessment, and Standard Operating Procedures. You will assist in continuous improvement events (Kaizen/TPM/Lean) focusing on environmental, health, and safety processes, policies, and training initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for executing safety and industrial hygiene plans, environmental policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, PADEP and others).
  • Maintains a system for reporting, monitoring, and correcting serious environmental, health and safety risks/issues.
  • Oversees health & safety, environmental, and DOT audits/assessments and recommends preventative measures.
  • Educate leadership on Safety and Environmental best practices, prevention and how to work around/with hazardous substances.
  • Support leading indicator work such as risk assessments, Gemba, behavior based safety programs and provide feedback to correct at-risk behaviors and conditions to reduce the risks at the site.
  • Implements training programs which will increase proficiency in safe practices, promote safety consciousness, ensure environmental compliance and advance continuous environmental improvement.
  • Establish chart and trend statistical and performance-based measures on leading safety and environmental indicators and deficiencies.
  • Execute on appropriate guidelines to ensure legal compliance and formulate recommendations for implementing applicable best practices consistent with the company's strategic safety and environmental objectives.
  • Execute EH&S initiatives, which reduce incident rates and environmental impacts while also reducing company costs (e.g., amount of workers’ compensation, etc.); Ensures Workers’ Compensation program is compliant and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Analyzes safety processes throughout the facility; proactively seeks areas of opportunity for improvement; identifies root causes of accidents; recommends changes to work flow, equipment or other process elements; and develops and implements support systems/processes (such as safety rewards and recognitions, safety communications, etc.) to achieve safety and environmental objectives.
  • Communicates and celebrates successes to maintain and foster company-wide commitment to safety and continuous environmental improvement; and provide recommendations for corrective direction when EH&S programs deviate from strategic plans and objectives.
  • Serves as point of contact between applicable regulatory and government agencies. Files and or posts reports as required by external legal and convening agencies such as OSHA 300/300A Logs, SARA Tier II, etc.
  • Formulates, maintains and executes Keurig Dr Pepper emergency plans and responds to safety and employee emergencies.
  • Ensures all significant near misses, injuries, and safety events are investigated and abatement measures implemented.
  • Monitors and controls industrial hygiene, which relates to the long-term effects of factors such as chemical exposure, noise, lighting, heat, and humidity. Manages hazardous and universal waste storage and disposal in compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Monitors activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment.

 

What you must have:

  • 3 years' experience applying environmental, health & safety and DOT regulations and programs in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • S. in safety, environmental, or equivalent field preferred
  • Experience in ISO environmental management systems preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred
  • Proven knowledge and demonstrated work experience with ergonomic risk reduction, researching and adhering regulations, continuous improvement, analytical troubleshooting, and OSHA & EPA compliance.
  • Travel as needed (Domestic and/or International)
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proven knowledge and demonstrated work experience working with Integrated Lean Six Sigma environment, TPM, and Kaizen Continuous Improvement Events is preferred
