Market Development Director

The Market Development Director will provide strategic planning, market activation and account/market analytics for the assigned Direct Store Delivery (DSD) Packaged Beverages West Business Unit on behalf of Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP). The position will actively identify local opportunities to drive volume, grow margins and close distribution and availability gaps. This individual will collaborate with the Business Unit General Manager, Regional Leaders and teams across the business to communicate, customize and deliver on corporate brand initiatives.   This position has direct responsibility to manage the Market Development Managers.

What you will do:

  • Tailor KDP brand promotion plans to the local market (calendars, events, incentives).
  • Exploit national marketing programs, properties, POS (Point of Sale) tools and local media buys. Make them relevant for the area and create customer selling advantages for Package Beverages (PB) DSD.
  • Activate new item launches, create local promotion and sampling events, and drive promotional plans/program for KDP and allied brands.
  • Activate appropriate consumer purchase incentives from Shopper Marketing.
  • Lead communication on upcoming marketing programs and innovation with internal customers.
  • Develop and communicate route sales incentives, track, rank and post results.
  • Analyze, interpret data and make recommendations based on post promotion data, syndicated data relative to performance, opportunities and competitors. This includes preparing metrics and reports routinely for channels to understand business results.
  • Use Margin Minder to evaluate distribution, pricing and merchandising opportunities for the market/channel/accounts.
  • Provide persuasive selling facts to support account selling (insights and appropriate brand and market information).
  • Seek opportunities across retail channels for the Packaged Beverages portfolio priorities.
  • Develop and manage the annual brand calendar to balance the brand initiatives and incentives.
  • Work with the regional allied brand companies to develop local programs.
  • Oversee with the finance and sales teams the marketing budget, to ensure marketing spend is forecasted and accrued to include: POS, Racks and individual brand budgets.
  • Manage a team of 3 - 5 individuals.

  • Ability to create and maintain relationships, both externally and internally.
  • Excellent communication skills, focused especially on the customer experience.
  • Ability to be flexible while able to drive for results, even when all of the requirements have not been defined.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required preferred or 3+ years’ Field Marketing leadership experience in the consumer product industry
  • Ability to regularly travel business; work a flexible schedule as needed.
