Job Description



SUMMARY: The Buyer II will be responsible for supplier relationships, price negotiation, inventory level management and purchase order dispatching for some families of Direct and Indirect Materials, as well as maintenance of item attribute data in the system. The Buyer II will fulfill the increasingly complex material management requirements for multiple production sites, increasing SKU mix, bidding of major supply relationships, and direct importing of products.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There may be direct supervision of buyers or analysts within the Purchasing Department for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identification of Direct and Indirect Material Requirements for both quality and quantity specifications for informing RFP or RFQ projects.
  • Research of industry and due diligence to qualify potential suppliers.
  • Project management, including bid outs of supply relationships.
  • Logistical management of supply to various production facilities.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels for assigned materials.

OTHER NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by KDP and the department, including Buyer’s Code of Conduct.
  • Follows Sarbanes-Oxley financial controls as required by company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years of purchasing experience, preferably for food manufacturing including ingredients and packaging materials.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, APP or higher certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Inventory policy and knowledge of Material Requirements Planning Systems, SOX controls knowledge and compliance experience
  • Analytical and reporting skills from data acquired from ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Great communication skills – verbal, written and electronic.
  • Computer Literacy, preferably experience with database programs and electronic purchase order systems.
  • Ability to uphold Safety standards: participate in Continuous Process Improvement on the job and follow our Manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to get along with others, be punctual and follow instructions.
  • Ability to follow KDP policies and procedures as well as our Operating Principles.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100% of the workday).
