Job Description



The Associate Sensory Scientist is responsible for applying their knowledge of consumer and analytical sensory methods to support research for innovation and renovation initiatives, as well as participate in the development of sensory and consumer capabilities. This role works closely with Sensory Team, Product Development, and Marketing to deliver business objectives. The Associate Sensory Scientist is responsible for coordinating sensory tests, analyze and interpret data, and provide technical recommendations to the project team. We are looking for a high performance-oriented team member to apply their technical and academic excellence to the field of sensory testing for our entire portfolio.

 Position Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver sensory research for cross-functional customers, meet business objectives, drive standards, consistency, and ensure excellence in research.
  • Coordinate day to day sensory requirements for R&D; assist and/or manage internal sensory lab and panels.
  • Work with Sensory Team to design sensory experiments; create research plans to fit overall business objectives.
  • Provide feedback to appropriate team members and customers; report findings and communicate next steps to team members and customers; active participation in project team meetings required; ensure delivery of commitments and project milestones; deliver on time, every time.
  • Provide knowledge of industry best practices with respect to sensory methodologies and maintain awareness of developing state-of-the-art technology.
  • Support improvement of standardized sensory practices, protocols, and processes across various functions of the organization.
  • Support validation of new technology applications via robust understanding of consumer science profile.
  • Work closely with other sensory scientists and product developers to effectively use internal panels as a product development tool


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum: BS degree in Sensory Science, Food Science or Other Science with a Sensory-focus
  • Minimum 1+ years of relevant experience in sensory science, background in food or beverage, including coffee, preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
