Job Description



The Scientist Sweetener Technology is a Plano, TX based role that applies new sweetener and ingredient technology to beverage innovation at Keurig Dr Pepper, to enable KDP to innovate and commercialize beverages for every need. The scientist is responsible for helping evaluate new technologies, and participates on project teams to provide sweetener expertise, forensic problem solving and product improvement, consolidations and optimizations across our beverage portfolio. This role works side-by-side with all R&D functions as well as across KDP functions, and plays a key role in the product development process of all our beverage categories through application of novel technologies. We are looking for a team member who collaborates, is high performance team-oriented, and able to apply technical and academic excellence across our beverage portfolio.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support KDP agenda and activities delivering great tasting products.
  • Work on multiple project teams to provide sweetener expertise, problem solving, product improvements, consolidations & optimizations.
  • Serve as the scientific expert in sweeteners with an in-depth technical understanding of sweetener and modifier areas and provide input on sweeteners and modifier applications across the beverage portfolio.
  • Work directly with our cross functional project teams to provide relevant sweetener ingredient science input to ideation, concept development, and project execution.
  • Create beverage prototypes across all beverage categories and demonstrations which illustrate where new sweetener technology fits into the KDP portfolio.
  • Provide bench-top development support for sweetener research projects including testing, writing reports, and making recommendations.
  • Evaluate sweeteners and sweetener systems to identify cost savings opportunities and to qualify suppliers of existing sweetening ingredients.
  • Development of specifications and internal review process for new sweeteners and ingredients.
  • Conduct stability testing for new sweetener ingredients related to future product introductions.
  • Build partnerships with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop improved work flows and processes across KDP functions.
  • Seamlessly work cross-functionally with key stakeholders.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor degree, graduate degree in Food Science preferred. 
  • 1-2yrs of Sweetener or Carbohydrate experience in a non-academic environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 10 %
