The Sr. Director of Engineering will be a member of the Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) Product Organization Leadership team and will be responsible to lead the US-based advanced development engineering organization, responsible for technical execution of all advanced development programs and platform roadmap development & maintenance.  In this role, the Sr. Director will be a critical part of an exciting, dynamic team of individuals with a variety of expertise who work closely together from concept phase through execution of new products. 

What you will do:

  • Play two roles: 1) Lead the Engineering team function matrixed into agile product teams and 2) ensure adherence to technical maturity of platforms and sub-systems to deliver technical solutions on-time for product delivery.
  • Be accountable to drive learning between functional leads in order to avoid process bottlenecks and to ensure best practices are shared.
  • Drive agile product development practices into teams and coach on lean ways of working within product teams.
  • Manage overall capacity of engineers across teams and flex resources accordingly
  • Determine which resources will be assigned to which product teams (in consultation with product family lead).
  • Build capabilities across the organization through 1 on 1 coaching, training, and identifying new capabilities required.
  • Interact with KDP experts as needed to ensure ‘best available’ thinking is brought into the product develoment.
  • Act as interface with all technical contributors and product and program management.
  • Demonstrate proven leadership qualities that foster a creative team work environment in a diverse, fast-paced engineering environment with the ability to build and maintain win – win relationships with all stake holders.
  • Develop and implement plans and forecasts to achieve objectives.
  • Understand principles involved with product design (concept through first phase of manufacturing).
  • Exhibit strong consumer goods experience in moving from product concept to launch.
  • Communicate programs and technologies from department level up to senior levels of management within the KDP business.
  • Have strong strategic thinking to envision and build teams.
  • Follow all KDP policies and procedures.



Requirements

What you must have:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering science; Advanced Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration desired.
  • 15+ years experience in an Engineering environment.
  • 6+ years as a manager of people.
  • Advanced technical background with experience in consumer-based design, ideally in household appliances (or consumer electronics / software).
  • Proven track record driving system integration, with leadership experience or intrinsic ability to go beyond individual contributor role.
  • Familiarity with all engineering sub-fields and professional network with relevant practitioners.
  • Prior experience on agile teams and agile/lean product development environment.
  • Able to lead a team and organize resources to deliver against aggressive deliverables.
  • Familiarity with commercial product development and support.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multiple organizations within the company and lead matrix staffed projects.
  • Ability to clearly articulate concepts and technical issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Ability to rapidly assess potential risks, benefits and consequences of decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Impeccable integrity and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Must be able to travel 20-25%.
