Job Description



The Maintenance Technician II at Keurig Dr Pepper will be responsible for facilitation and leadership to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve process and packaging equipment, to maximize production and maintain Keurig Dr Pepper’s high standards in safety and quality. This role will also be engaged in improving maintenance procedures and manufacturing processes for the improvement of safety, quality, delivery, cost and culture. 

What you will do: 

Technical 

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems on equipment.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting capabilities on control systems, servo drives, motors, HMIs, and PLCs on complex high speed packaging lines.
  • Perform various equipment preventive maintenance tasks as necessary, but routinely in cases requiring advanced technical expertise 
  • Review documentation for maintenance activity using the maintenance database, adequately communicate maintenance issues to appropriate employees (e.g., other maintenance techs, operators, engineers, supervisors, etc.), and properly utilize the maintenance inventory system.
  • Repair and maintain items necessary to maintain equipment in optimum operating condition 
  • Lead process improvement initiatives in assigned areas by analyzing equipment maintenance history, identifying significant causes of waste, coordinating with appropriate employees to develop root cause analysis (RCA), and providing maintenance assistance as necessary. 
  • Assist in day-to-day support of operators for adjustments, setups, and change overs
  • Assist other maintenance technicians as required
  • Work with engineers and vendors on special projects
  • Use machine tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices to modify machinery as needed
  • Will assist in the training and coaching others on best practices. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Maintain a healthful and safe environment and promptly report any violations / discrepancies / injuries / incidents to appropriate personnel.

  • Actively participates in Job Hazard/Risk Analysis.       

 

Quality  

  • Performs and coaches standard work and understands where to find Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at site level.  
  • Understands, complies with, and coaches quality systems and policies Quality Data System (QDS), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Process (GMP), and Hazzard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). 
  • Understands, demonstrates, articulates, and coaches ownership of quality metrics. 
  • Actively participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) / Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) events.

Delivery  

  • Cooperating and planning with other shifts to address handoff issues
  • Actively escalates line issues / opportunities using the Daily Management System (DMS) escalation process.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and engages in corrective action.
  • Coach team members on standard maintenance work and procedures
  • Gathers data on equipment issues to contribute to problem solving utilizing appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) 
  • Ability to work effectively & rotate into other zones and/or production lines. 

Cost  

  • Understands costs associated with producing cups, to include: labor, scrap, material usage variance, utilities, spares, and downtime.
  • Utilizing this information to drive the decision making process and level of urgency
  • Actively lead generation of productivity ideas and continuous improvement teams.

Requirements

What you must have: 

  • Completion of Industrial Maintenance degree or certificate preferred.  
  • Formal manufacturing maintenance education and/or 6 years of related manufacturing maintenance experience. 
  • Demonstrated advanced mechanical /electrical skills (PLC troubleshooting and Robotics skills preferred).
  • Ability to read and understand complex instructions, prints, flowchart, block diagram, and schematics. 
  • Ability to competently use and understand precision testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience using e-mail, job databases, spreadsheets, and CMMS.
  • Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) experience preferred.
  • Packaging experience is preferred.
  • High speed automation experience preferred.
  • Yellow / Green Belt training preferred

General: 

  • Significant keyboarding/computer work required. 
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within and outside the USA representing Keurig Dr Pepper in vision and behaviors.
  • Must be flexible to work varying hours and shifts, including overtime and weekends, to accommodate business needs. 

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions: 

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds frequently with mechanical assistance.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to frequently kneel, squat, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to repetitively lift, twist, stretch, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 1,500 pounds using supplied equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
  • Ability to meet all requirements to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to work in a variety of temperature and humidity conditions.
