Legal Affairs Manager (U.S. Commercial & Litigation)

Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. (KDP) is seeking an experienced, business-minded and self-motivated legal affairs manager/paralegal to be based out of its Plano, TX location. The Legal Affairs Manager will be an integral member of the KDP Legal Department. Primary responsibilities of the role will be to support KDP’s in-house legal team with contract review and drafting and enterprise litigation-related responsibilities including discovery. In this position, this individual will work as a core member of the KDP Legal Department interfacing with our U.S. Commercial team to facilitate the contracting process, support day-to-day legal requests and assist with litigation support. Success in this role will come not only from exceptional paralegal skills, but also excellent judgment, strong communication skills, initiative to pick up diverse responsibilities across the KDP Legal Department, and a passion for continuous improvement. 

The role reports to the VP Assistant General Counsel (U.S. Commercial & Litigation)

What you will do:

Contracts & Contract Management:

  • Play an integral role within the KDP Legal Department in close interaction with the U.S. Commercial team to ensure contracts and other documents are properly negotiated and drafted to reflect acceptable legal and business terms.
  • Draft agreements for attorneys and internal clients, and coordinate contract workflow through manual and electronic processes.
  • Draft a wide variety of legal documents.
  • Continually improve contract workflow processes to identify efficiencies and facilitate timely execution of agreements.
  • Update contract templates and processes and assist with the review, management and organization of contracts and contractual language.
  • Enter agreements into KDP’s contract management system for tracking and ongoing management.
  • Assist with training on sales, marketing and brand compliance matters.
  • Participate in process improvement and budget management efforts.
  • Other related projects and duties as assigned.

Litigation:

  • Support litigation and other adversarial matters in close partnership with internal legal and business teams and outside counsel.
  • Manage and/or support litigation projects (e.g., litigation holds, document collection, review and production, witness interviews, deposition prep, etc.).
  • Organize and manage legal documents for the litigation team and regularly interface with counsel to support discovery, e-discovery and investigations.
  • Play a key role in supporting the litigation team’s handling of complex commercial litigation matters, subpoena responses, and pre-litigation matters.
  • Conduct interviews, draft affidavits and otherwise assist in the preparation of correspondence, documents and reports under the supervision of a lawyer.
  • Work collaboratively with litigation and e-discovery teams to assist in case management.
  • Summarize complex legal documents.
  • Organize and index complex case files.
  • Determine and calendar deadlines.
  • Perform other functions such as conducting research, maintaining calendars, proofreading, organizing and maintaining forms, databases and other materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

General:

  • Serve as an integral member of the Legal Team and forge a close working relationship with other departments. Ensure coordination on business matters that may have legal significance.
  • As required and/or directed, coordinate with outside counsel, KDP attorneys, other KDP functions and counterparts in other departments.
  • Provide administrative and direct support for various department projects.
  • Educate business on legal-related matters.
  • Assist KDP Legal Department with process improvement projects focused on increasing efficiency and improving service provided to organization.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.


Requirements

What you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant in house or law firm paralegal experience.
  • High degree of familiarity with commercial contract drafting and review in a high-volume and fast-moving corporate environment.
  • Experience supporting complex commercial litigation lifecycle management with demonstrated discovery phase knowledge and support.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong business judgment, and ability to collaborate closely with stakeholders from different disciplines outside of and within a team.
  • Proficiency with relevant Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms and document management systems.
  • Prior experience in the food, beverage, and/or CPG industries is a plus.
  • Unquestioned ethics and integrity and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high volume or work in fast-paced environment and prioritize among competing deadlines.
  • Ability to partner, collaborate and influence at all levels within the KDP organization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to lift and move files and boxes of various size and weight from file room to desk area.

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel as necessary but minimal.
