Fleet Mechanic


The Fleet Mechanic will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), trailers, vans, forklifts and material handling equipment, as directed by Fleet Mechanic Lead and/or Fleet Management. This individual may also disassemble and overhaul engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends and electrical systems.

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary.
  • Adhere to OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory compliance standards.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records.
  • Maintain cleanliness in areas of work and tools.
  • Record all work in an electronic web based database
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles.
  • Manage ordering and inventory of parts.
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe and productive manner.
  • Follow the direction of Fleet lead Mechanic and/or Supervisor/Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Possess general computer skills
  • Least one year of mechanic experience or equivalent training / education—must be a Class A qualified technician and able to work on all types of vehicles and material handling equipment
  • ASE certifications (Preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license (Class A CDL required - Must get within 180 days of employment)
  • Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Pass a drug test, criminal background, verifiable employment verification, social security, and motor vehicle record check
