Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) utilizes a network of contract manufacturing partners and sub-tier suppliers in Asia Pacific (APAC) to product Keurig® coffee makers (“appliances”) for sale in North America.  The Director of Appliance Supplier Quality & Development will be responsible to ensure that our extended supply base is capable to meet KDP quality standards for ongoing production while driving continuous improvement activities to ensure they are prepared to produce our products in the future. This position will be based in KDP’s Singapore Operations Center and will report to Appliance Supply Chain leadership.

The ideal candidate for the role will have extensive OEM/ODM/contract manufacturing product development experience, especially with regard to Advanced Product Quality Development (APQP), Current Product, and Supplier Development.  In addition, candidates shall have a proven track record of executing the AIAG Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) deliverables. This leader will drive activities to assess, develop, and manage suppliers to support program launch including PPAP execution and the development of appropriate countermeasures to ensure success.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Shall oversee a team of Supplier Quality and Development Engineers based in Singapore, Malaysia, and Shenzhen, China.

What you must have:

  • Goals / Objectives / Key Performance Indicators
    • Establish and drive accomplishment of overall Supplier Quality performance goals and improvement objectives for the Appliances Business Unit (ABU).
    • Define, monitor, and drive performance across defined Key Performance Indicators (e.g., Materials to specifications, SPC application against Critical to Quality Targets, etc.)
    • Cascade performance metrics, policies, and procedures across our global supply base
  • Organization (Team, Process, Tools, etc.)
    • Lead a broad team of both direct and indirect reports team that is focused on developing and maintaining KDP’s appliance Supplier Quality program.
    • Directly manage supplier development team activities from budgets to strategic focus.
    • Accountable for communication, interviewing and hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, leveraging team and individual strengths, managing performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and solving problems to ensure high performance results
    • Responsible for coordination, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the department/team and creating a positive climate where people want to do their best.
    • Mentor and develop direct staff and provide consistent, actionable feedback.
    • Actively and continuously foster a culture that places top priority on product quality product safety, and supplier performance.
    • Drive implementation and continuous improvement of internal programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Supplier Strategy
    • Collaborate with Procurement/Category leadership to develop, maintain, and execute overall supplier and category strategies.
    • Collaborate with the Procurement / Category Management and Engineering teams to continuously improve our capacity and capability to ensure product meets specifications, process control yields, scrap reduction and commercialization efficiency
    • Lead and manage the supplier qualification processes; manage approved listing of suppliers to mitigate organizational risks
  • Supplier Performance Management
    • Lead all quality aspects of Supplier Performance Management (SPM) and improvement activities including deployment of KPIs, identifying improvement opportunities and regular review of performance with suppliers
    • Prioritize audit schedules for both incumbent and potential suppliers in the new supplier approval process; provide oversight to ensure completion of root cause and corrective actions from suppliers
    • Monitor supplier performance to program deliverables and part quality. Develop and implement countermeasures as needed, including ownership of our supplier Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA) process.
  • Supplier Development
    • Lead the supplier optimization / supplier development effort for KDP’s Appliances Business Unit (ABU)
    • Provide support and leadership for supplier development initiatives to refine and enhance products, processes, and capabilities
    • Apply continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing principles and techniques to assure quality of goods and services provided
    • Plan and execute training programs (internal and external) to support the developmental needs of the Supplier Quality and Development team and KDPs Critical to Quality (CTQ) suppliers.
  • Quality Engineering & Assurance
    • Manage and maintain supplier-facing Quality programs and requirements.
    • Drive supplier PPAP Master timing plans, glide paths, submission and approval dates to ensure adherence /compliance to program timing
    • Develop and manage inspection processes & tools (receiving / source)
    • Ensure the traceability of received lots from source through receipt, establishing risk assessments given the supply chain dynamics for input materials and finished goods
    • Manage the resolution of materials non-compliance from a quality data perspective, working through the Procurement team to validate corrective action from suppliers.
    • Ensure maintenance of all required Safe Quality Food (SQF) certifications and associated requirements
  • General Requirements
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and developments
    • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory agency, government regulations, contract specifications, and company policies/procedures.
    • Partner with the Appliances Responsible Sourcing leadership on applying supplier requirements and guidelines to our sourcing strategy and execution
    • Travel as required to both KDP and supplier locations for onsite support
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's principles, policies and applicable laws.


What you must have:

  • BA, BS in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of a progression of quality management responsibilities and senior leadership
  • Demonstrated strong abilities in the areas of: Quality Management Systems and applications (GFSI, ISO 9001, Six Sigma, APQP tools, Lean methodologies etc.), Corporate Social Responsibility, and Project Management experience as Project Leader and cross-functional team participant.
  • Demonstrated skill to persuade/influence directly and indirectly-both internally and externally to the function.
  • Prior experience working in a global company within a matrixed structure

  • Advanced facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to uphold Safety standards, participates in Continuous Process Improvement on the job, and follows manufacturing best practices.
